Shivleela -History Made by Varsha Naik , Navrang Dance Academy

Edison, New Jersey– A historic milestone in Indian cultural theater was created as Shivleela, a grand Broadway-style dance drama by USA-based renowned director and choreographer Varsha Naik, captivated a packed audience at J P Stevens High School Edison NJ .

Presented by Navrang Dance Academy, the production brought together 70 artists and volunteers, totaling 108 dedicated contributors, and was witnessed by 709+ audience members, along with special guests from across the tristate area.

Under the visionary direction of Varsha Naik, Shivleela showcased the powerful storytelling of Lord Shiva through dance, drama, and theatrical excellence — beautifully blending Indian tradition with Broadway-scale presentation.

Light and sound were key factors of the Broadway-style Shivleela and were beautifully managed by Shrikant Gavas, whose technical precision and artistic execution elevated the entire production into a grand theatrical experience.

The Honorable Mayor of Edison Township, Sam Joshi, praised the production, stating:

“Varsha Naik is keeping Indian culture alive in the USA by creating meaningful dramas in the form of storytelling and helping the community stay connected to their roots.”

Key supporters of the event included Raj Pandya from the Pandya Foundation and Vaidehi Dongre Pandya, who described Shivleela as a phenomenal drama and expressed enthusiasm to support more productions that showcase Lord Shiva and Indian cultural heritage.

The event was also proudly supported by Surinder Kumar and Anu Kumari from Suhag Jewelers.

A special highlight of the evening was the powerful portrayal of Mahadev by renowned Mumbai-based dancer and choreographer Sandip Soparrkar, who brought depth, devotion, and commanding stage presence to the role. The dance drama was brilliantly supported by the dedicated students and artists of Navrang Dance Academy.
