Kerala’s First AI-Generated Sci-Fi Action Thriller 'Nightfall: The Kochi Invasion' Trailer Launched

Kozhikode, Jan 1, 2026 :
Marking a revolutionary milestone in Indian cinema, SMBS Infolab LLP has announced the launch of Kerala’s first full-length Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated scientific action thriller, 'Nightfall: The Kochi Invasion.' The official trailer of the film was released today at the Calicut Press Club by Mr. Sashinarayanan, a veteran in the film and theatre industry and a member of the National School of Drama's expert committee.

A Technical Milestone

Written and directed by Ramesh Babu Manikoth, the film is a pioneer in the "AI cinema" movement. It was created entirely without traditional film sets, cameras, or human actors. Instead, the production leveraged cutting-edge AI tools including Chat GPT, Suno AI, VO3.1, and Elevenlab AI to generate the screenplay, cinematic visuals, and background score.

The production team highlighted that while AI video generation was limited to very short clips until late 2025, the technology has now evolved significantly. To bring this vision to life, the team painstakingly stitched together over 1,200 individual AI-generated sequences, each approximately 8 seconds long.

The Storyline

Set against the rain-soaked streets of Kochi and the vast depths of the Arabian Sea, the film reimagines the alien-invasion genre through a local lens.

The Plot: The story follows Priya, a young television reporter abducted during an unexplained extraterrestrial encounter.
The Conflict: A high-stakes Navy-led rescue mission eventually uncovers a hidden truth beneath the ocean—the awakening of an ancient "Guardian" long forgotten by humanity.
The Theme: The film explores the convergence of modern military strategy, ancient myths, and advanced alien technology.

The Future of Entertainment

Speaking at the press conference, the makers stated that this project serves as a "proof of concept" for the future of the entertainment industry. By blending global sci-fi tropes with regional authenticity, 'Nightfall' aims to position itself as the opening chapter of a potential cinematic universe.

The film is produced by Kozhikode-based SMBS INFOLAB LLP, aiming to inspire a new generation of filmmakers to explore the limitless possibilities of Artificial Intelligence in storytelling.
