An Israeli national was arrested for using a satellite phone without permission. The Mundakayam police took into custody David Eli Lis Bon (75), an Israeli citizen. He had arrived in Kumarakom and used the satellite phone while traveling to Thekkady.
The intelligence department alerted the police about the incident, leading to his arrest in Mundakayam. He was interrogated by intelligence officials, the NIA, and the police. The satellite phone was seized, and after completing legal formalities, he was released on personal bail. The case was registered under the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act.
