A child who fell into a pond and the mother who attempted to rescue her died. The incident took place in Elkana, Badiyadka, Kasaragod. The deceased have been identified as Parameshwari (40) and her daughter Padmini (2.5 years old).

The child fell into the pond while playing. Seeing this, Parameshwari immediately jumped in to rescue her, but she too drowned. Both were retrieved from the pond and taken to the hospital, but their lives could not be saved.
