Hindu population more than doubled in Canada since 2001
Hindu population has reportedly more than doubled in Canada during 2001-2021, and Hinduism is now third largest religion of the country after Christianity and Islam.
According to Statistics Canada, as reported in the 2021 Census, Hindus rose from 1.0% to 2.3% (close to 830,000 people) of total Canadian population from 2001 to 2021. Hindus now comprise 4.1% percent of the Ontario population.
According to reports, here is the 2021 Hindu population in various provinces and territories of Canada: Alberta 15,835, British Columbia 16,845, Manitoba 3,475, New Brunswick 375, Northwest Territories 35, Newfoundland and Labrador 250, Nova Scotia 930, Nunavut 25, Ontario 131,155, Prince Edward Island 100, Quebec 15,610, Saskatchewan 2,595, Yukon 25.
Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, congratulated the Hindu community in Canada for continuing with the traditional values of hard work, higher morals, stress on education, sanctity of marriage, etc.; amidst so many distractions.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, advised Hindus to focus on inner search, stay pure, explore the vast wisdom of scriptures, make spirituality more attractive to youth and children, stay away from the greed, and always keep God in your life.
Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about 1.2 billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
